Specification of Carbon Steel Pipes For Pressure Sch 40

The definition of a sch 40 pipe is a pipe that has a schedule 40. Sch or schedule itself has the meaning of a pipe thickness parameter (pipe) which is measured from the relationship of pipe thickness to the inside diameter (ID) which results in strength in holding pressure, where Sch has been based on the ANSI standard (American National Standards Institute). This schedule has a number and varies in each NPS (Nominal Pipe Size, with the size in inches). For more details, 4” pipe with schedule 40, has a different wall thickness on 14” pipe with schedule 40, the same schedule. Here's how to measure the pipe wall thickness to the inner pipe (ID), which is the ratio of the working pressure of the pipe divided by the allowable stress, which will then be multiplied by 1000. Let's take the example of a steel pipe with a pressure of 350 Psi. Generally, steel pipe has an allowable stress of 10,000 psi. Then the formula is written as follows Sch = (350/10000) x 1,000 = 35. Then schedule 40 should be used. For convenience and practicality in daily use, the schedule usually follows the pressure in bars, with 1 bar = 14.51 Psi. For example, the working pressure is 40 bar, then schedule 40 is used.
